In late march 2010 Andrew Scurr guided another European hunter on this amazing Red Stag. The information talked about on this stag stag is unofficial so far as the scoring is concerned in both SCI and CIC. All the big stags in NZ are hunted in preserve areas and here at Cardrona Safaris we hunt in compliance with the ethics of SCI and guide lines of NZ Game Estates. Andrew is also a member of the NZPHGA.
CIC do not recognise NZ stags for their record book entries and we respect that, but for comparison of the quality we have here at Cardrona Safaris we think this stag comes second to the worlds heaviest stag hunted here with us in 2007.
We do not know of any other Red Stag that has measured currently, in the top two or three in both the internationally recognised and accepted scoring systems, 620in SCI and over 290 CIC dried weight pending. It is very symetrical with well defined long points and a green weight of 40lbs antler and scull, this is an exceptional Red Stag. We continually evaluate the quality of our genetics applying a stringent culling policy and the results speak for themselves. It is very rewarding and particularly so when the hunter pays such great respect to the animal and to the priveledge to visit NZ and to hunt with Cardrona Safaris.
